We now offer an excellent hiking Rincon de la Vieja tour, to experience the primary forests, secondary forests, sources of the rivers and ends with a swim in a hot springs river. Please enquire with reservations upon your arrival.
We begin with a hearty breakfast at Blue River All Inclusive Resort & Hot Springs’ Tiki Bar, surrounded by exotic gardens. American style or Costa Rica “Tico” is available. At 7:30 a.m. we set off on our jungle adventure tour at the base of Rincon de la Vieja National Park where we will be hiking through cool rainforest, high mountains and thick vegetation.
Along the trail, we’ll be on the lookout for animals, like wild pigs (aka peccaries), big rodents like pecas and agoutis, spider monkeys, howler monkeys, and a variety of snakes and insects unique to this area. If we’re lucky, we’ll find tracks made by tespescuincles, jaguar or even tapirs.
This area has the boasting rights of being one of the most biodiverse places on earth. Climbing up the mountain, the surrounding ecology will quickly change from rainforest to volcanic grounds with unique palms. Soon enough we’ll arrive to the base of the majestic volcano itself at 1100 meters in altitude. At the top, we’ll proceed to take a dip in incredibly clear waters consisting of many different pools and the gorgeous “green toucan” waterfalls that wrap around the base of the volcano.
