Itinerary
Your tour has two halves – your hike followed by time to relax in hot springs and mud bathing.
After an early pick-up from your Guanacaste hotel by a bi-lingual driver there will be time for a quick refreshment and change clothes at Blue River Resort & Hot Springs. You’ve left the dry hot savannah behind and arrived along the north side of Rincon de la Vieja National Park, the only area in Guanacaste with real blue rivers, natural hot springs, a lush rainforest and views of the smoking volcano crater.
After another short drive to a former palm of heart farm the hike commences, past the farm into secondary and then primary rain forest, a tall, dense jungle with interesting flora and fauna. Views open to several stunning blue waterfalls. Take dips into the Rio Pénjamo’s magical natural “blue” pools For many, the best part will be the many stops to learn and observe the symbiosis of the nature. This dense rain forest with giant trees, is home to hundreds of epiphyte plants, rich in biodiversity and lush vegetation. Enjoy peek-a-boo views of the smoking Rincon de la Vieja volcano crater too.
The length of the hike is partly determined by the number of stops.
After a delicious lunch at Blue River Resort & Hot Springs, there will be time enjoying the special amenities. There are three natural hot springs pools, a fresh water pool with a waterslide, a natural mud bath and sauna, botanical gardens with over 700 varietals and the butterfly farm.
