Everyone can find here things that they’ve never seen before! Take a walk to a huge hollow tree inhabited by bats. Or visit a lagoon teeming with fish, turtles, iguanas and captivating mysterious frogs.
Costa Rica’s rainforest has many microclimates and is a habitat for various colorful birds. The Hummingbird center attracts several of Costa Rica’s 51 species of hummingbirds with feeders surrounding a quaint koi fish pond. From time to time, you can see a Toucans feeding on their favorite plant.
Just a short walk from from your Costa Rica hotel, plan to spend many hours wandering the tropical rainforest trails and sitting on one of the benches taking in the colors, smells and beauty of Costa Rica Botanical Gardens. Have binoculars and cameras at the ready observe in the flora and spotting wildlife.
Look out for the source of the hot springs inside the Botanical Gardens. The heat and moisture creates a unique habitat around the mini volcanoes and sinkholes, where the 60 degree Celsius hot springs bubbles to the surface. These Costa Rica Hot Springs fills three pools.
Also in the Botanical Gardens, in between a hot springs creek and a fresh water is the Mud Bathing Center. Enjoy a natural sauna sitting above the hot springs, then apply the mud. After it dries, rinse off in the freshwater creek. Your skin will feel marvelous.
