The Botanical Gardens at Blue River Resort & Hot Springs is in a lush Caribbean rain forest with over 700 varietals. Also located inside the gardens are the Butterfly Gardens, an Orchid Garden a hummingbird sanctuary, bird sanctuaries, as well as frog, fish, turtle and caiman ponds. The display of exotic flowers is amazingly colorful. Moreover, when in bloom, the blossoms of delicate orchids in the Botanical Gardens amaze even the locals.
Colorful birds, like toucans, migrant birds, a resident sloth and much more, make nature-watching a world-class show. Visiting our Botanical Gardens in Costa Rica will be a highlight of your Costa Rica vacation.
A Peaceful Spot
We’ve grouped each major species of trees and flowers together, so it would be convenient to our guests to explore our Botanical Gardens in Costa Rica. Everyone can find things that they’ve never seen before! Take a walk to a huge hollow tree inhabited by bats. Or visit a lagoon teeming with fish, turtles, iguanas and captivating mysterious frogs.

Just a short walk from your Costa Rica hotel, plan to spend many hours wandering the tropical rainforest trails and sitting on one of the benches taking in the colors, smells and beauty of Costa Rica Botanical Gardens. Have binoculars and cameras at the ready observe in the flora and spotting wildlife.
Also inside the gardens are the source of the hot springs, used to heat the pools and create a natural sauna and mud treatment center. Using the hot springs that create a creek, we’ve built a building that traps the steam and in between the hot springs creek and a fresh water creek where guests apply the mud,After letting the mud dry dries, rinse off in the freshwater. Your skin will feel marvelous.

Blue River Resort & Hot Springs mission is to create a Botanical Gardens that is representative of a Costa Rican rainforest that serves as an education center to teach the young and old alike, the importance of conserving Costa Rica’s incredible natural diversity.
